W 1540 roku większość Grecji znajdowała się pod kontrolą Imperium Osmańskiego, które stopniowo podbijało region w XIV i XV wieku, zarządzając nim poprzez administracje prowincjonalne. Kilka nadmorskich twierdz i wysp – przede wszystkim Kreta i części Wysp Jońskich – pozostawało pod kontrolą Republiki Weneckiej, co odzwierciedlało trwającą wrogość wenecko-osmańską we wschodniej części Morza Śródziemnego.
Maps came in a very well cushioned package with no damage occurring during transit. The color on the maps is nicely saturated and the maps look great on the wall.
